Farbie in Ven!!!

Hey! To end off an amazing first week of camp, we had a shabbaton at the shluchim (rosenblum´s) house. Brajale did a great job organizing and leading it and boruch Hashem, i think the kids had a really good time. On Friday night, after most of the kids went to sleep (there were a few kids up, insisting that they werent tired, while at the same time they were yawning away and rubbing thier eyess,!!!) we had a little farbie with 4 of the Venezuelan counselors (who are semi-frum). We started at 12:30 and planned to go till 1.....it ended at 3:45!!!! LOL! it was amazing. i was explaining something about Moshiach, and then they starteed asking questions about all types of topics! For a long time I was explaining one thing according to chassidus that one of them asked about (not washing for shalosh seudos-instead having something smalll and learning torah), and then a while later they wanted to see the hayom yom of their birthday.....and it was such HASHGACHA PROTIS!.....the exact answer that i had told them was discussed in one of the girl´s hayom yom! we were all soooo excited!

Another question one of them asked me was how it is possible to use bad situations to appreciate the good. so i tried to answer by giving the famous mashal of a candle... On a sunny day(clarity, good times), the candle doesn´t have much effect and we dont see how special it is....but in a pitched black room (confusion, darkness) the candle lights up the whole place....and we can really appreciate the light. so then she asked that if by moshiach everything will be only good (i had told her about vés ruach hatumah aavir min haaretz and yivula hamoves lonetzach) will we still appreciate it....or will it seem not soo amazing,,,,like will it lose all it´s worth since we wont have any bad....
i didn´t really have any great answer to tell her except that i´m sure it will still be amazing and unbelievable,,,so if anyone has any ideas of an answer, please write it and i´ll tell it to her!! thanks!

Hey Esty! I'm not quite sure of your question. Maybe tell her about Mir Velen Benken Nuch Di Golus Teg - how we'll see the good in the bad times. I don't know if this helps, 'cause I don't really get your question.

Raizel, thanks for the idea that you brought in. iy''h i'll tell it to her...but that really has to do with the first part of her question (comparing the good and bad). The second part of the question is what stumped me, though: how to appreciate the good when there is no "bad" to compare it to...when there is ONLY positive. Chaya Mushka, can't wait to hear the Rabbi's answer. If anyone else has any other ideas please share...now i'm curious as well!

Oh, I get your question now. Hmmm, that's a hard one. Chaya Mushka, when you get the Rabbi's answer, can you post it as a post so that we can all see it? Thanks.

ok well here's what i wrote:
"If we can appreciate light best when we are in the dark, are we going to appreciate the revelation of light when Moshiach comes?"

she answered:
"I think so, because when Moshiach comes the veil of darkness will be lifted, we will see things from a different perspective because the world will be in a different perspective."

i'm gonna ask for an elucidation...
what do you think?

also i think the fact is that Moshiach comes OUT OF DARKNESS, not out of a perfect world... that's the whole point of dirah b'tachtonim. we ARE coming out of the dark, so we will appreciate the light (besides for the fact that the light itself will be much greater)
not like the upper worlds...

besides, i don't think a spiritual person that's always been spiritual appreciates it less than someone who hasn't... it's a sensitivity that doesn't have to come out of a lack

thanks for all your help!
i'll iy''h tell the girl all your answers.
May we merit to see this unbelievable revelation of light even before it gets dark tonight!
Moshiach NOW!

You should ask for an elucidation, but I like you're answer, too. It's not like you only think the flowers are beautiful because you see ugly ones as well! We can and do appreciate good and beauty all the time without having it alongside the opposite.
