Last night, I decided to (be smart and) wash all my uniform stuff at once (from grad. trip etc.)and some more clothes. Fine. Now let me explain to you something, I have a very sophisticated washing machine, which tells me exactly how many minutes my load will take. The washer said 43 minutes, so I went away to do some more stuff (gmail chat...).
I came back an hour or more later, and the washer said LD (instead of the amount of minutes). So I didnt' know what LD stands for, and I just pushed a button to unlock the lid (yes, like I told you it's sophisticate machine, where the lid locks!). and then I covered it again, and pressed start. This time it said 27 minutes, but it was frozen, the washer wasn't washing, ant the minutes weren't changing...
oh well, I thought! I'd better just take my stuff out and try to dry them some other way. I pressed the unlock button.....and hahaha, it doesn't work... my clothes are stuck inside... there is absolutely no way to unlock the washing machine if the unlock button doesn't work... not only that, no buttons work... I can't restart the wash, I can't even turn teh power on or off, and ALL my uniforms are stuck inside. Funny, I guess I'll just wear regular clothes to school tomorrow, with a pretty humorous story - my clothes are locked in the washing machine???!!! Wonder what Teichtel will think of that!
In the end, b''h, it worked sort of... so yes, I am wearing a uniform today!
So what's my point in this story? This morning, I realized that you have to take a lesson in your life from everything that happens, but i'm still trying to think of a lesson for this story, and I'm aksing all of you to help and give your suggestions of what you can learn from this story!

ok... this is a tough one.
but i'm gonna give it a try.
sometimes you think that because something is new and modern and sophisticated it's automatically better and what's old is outdated and useless... and sometimes it's true. but if you have something new and sophisticated and you don't know how to use it... it can get you into lots of trouble... like even principals and stuff!
take internet, cell phones, and even ideas that are new and fancy like psychology and stuff (and i'm sure there's other things that are shayich... just can't think of it now!)
on the one hand, they can be very helpful in doing what you need for avodas hashem and making a dirah betachtonim vchulu... on the other hand, if you do not know where they are appropriate and where they are not and where and how you should be using them... it can cause more damage than good!
like you might not have what to wear to school one day....
;)
simple---
when something is out of your control.. like in this case ( unless you were gonna call the 24 hour wasing macine hotline or the locksmith....) you jsut gotta let it go. so worst that happens is you dont have a uniform for school. what can the proncipal do to you already ;)
and another--- self quieting skills are really cool. when youre in such a situation or when youre waiting on a long line, it doesnt help to get worked up!..
cheers to our life long avoda.
one second, how did you manage to wear a uniform today????
maybe you can learn a lesson from that.
by the way, teh lessons that chamusk and rosen posted are really true.
The lesson I have is, in the future don't put all your uniforms in the washing machine at once!!
no, just kidding. to make that practical maybe something like don't try to take too many things on yourself at once cuz you might just end up with nothing chas v'shalom??
I'm going to try a little twist on the story. The same way your fancy washing machine was stuck and the time wasn't changing, we can look at golus in the same way. The Rebbe said that Moshiach is coming NOW! As in NOW! There are no more seconds left. Time has paused in Golus. The only option now is Geulah! :)
wow - you're all so good!!! thanks for writing... it's amazing how everyone think so differently, so b''h for this blog that we can all share ideas/ our twists on stories!!! everyone feel free to try another twist... all are welcome!!!!
k so here's my shot at a horoah:
(it actually kinda fits with wat we learnt in historia [ historia final tom]) well basicaly we usually think that the newer products are better b/c of modern technology and the works but obviously thats not always true. sometimes sticking to the old fashioned way - will do us better than doing things the modern way.
and in our lives this means- although torah and mitzvos seem old fashioned and boring while modern culture seems exciting and enticing, we must realize that sometimes the old fashioned way is the best way to go.
Torah aint old fashioned! It's the newest thing out there!
We're flying high in style!
I guess Chyena's washing machine isn't the latest version after all.:)
shaina u didn't read mine!
cuz i was thinking just like ... but then i decided that chyena's story does not mean that the new is worse, only that it can make probs if you don't know how to work it!
lol
lesson for life: write too long and no one reads it!
iyh gonna try to keep things short and readable...
