Remember how we made everything sounds fun and exciting?
When we were trying to be mekarev another yid we made it fun, exciting, enticing - we wanted them to want to do it and enjoy it.
We wouldn't dare just ramble off a whole bunch of things we should be doing and expect them to do it.
But when it comes to ourselves...
We have get ourselves excited, we have to want to do what we're doing the same way. And if it means having an ice cream and chitas party every day - let's go for it!!

sry - don't really agree... obviously we should make stuff exicitng if we need to, but the comparison of gan izzy doesn't really make sense... we're capable of DOING a lot more than they are, and therefore - no, we don't need it with as much fun as they do.
I jsut though it would be fun to disagree with something, at least maybe it'll get more people to post comments!

well personally i don't mind an ice cream party every once in a while
but what can i do when there's no time and place listed on the invitation??

and btw chyena i happen to agree with musha here...
the idea is to appeal not only to your nefesh elokis but also to your nefesh habahamis
there are some things that you just won't do otherwise
i think that's what we do in gan izzy - we gear everything for the nefesh habahamis so the nefesh elokis will get drawn in too :)
basically, i think it's like this:
it's always better not to have tayvos:)
but..... if you're so tired and you're chas v'shalom gonna go to sleep and say that you'll make u[ chitas tomorrow but then you remember that you have ice cream in the freezer and if you eat the ice cream you'll say your chitas
then you should eat the ice cream!!

secondly, i get the point... but i don't think that the comparison to gan izzy campers is good becuase on a scale of 1 to 100, their fun needs to be 90%, and our fun / nefesh habihamis appealing or wtvr u wanna call it can be 10%.
i think we all agree here on the ppoint that sometime you need "ice cream" but i'm just arguing on the comparison to gan izzy campers! b/c there is NO comparison!!! that's it!
feel free to argue back, at least we'll know who's checking!!!
i totally agree with this post. yes, we do need the 90% fun that gan izzy offers. but..... its only worth it and we can only do it if the 10% ruchnius will be the real goal of the 90% gashmius. don't know about you, but tons of gashmius helps with doing the ruchnius. the gashmius could also be the motives behind the ruchnius we do. did you notice that many times ppl. do things that are so ruchniusdik but it'snot solely done becasue its gonna connect me to hashem. get it? i think i might sound confusing but i guess its becasue i feel limited in my words although ive been using quite a bit of them so far.
