My tiere chassidim, you have to show yourself off,
be a dugma chaya - and wear it on your sleeve.
you have to do and give to others by sharing what you do so they can get inspired and do the same.
The Alter Rebbe said that when you give to someone else it refines your own mind and heart 1000x more than what you worked on for yourself.
The Rebbe points two things out:
a. The A"R doesnt exagerate. 1000x more means 1000x more!!!! (worth it for you!)
b. We have to realize that 1000 x 0 = 0. If we give to others but dont take care of ourselves at all than we have nothing to base our growth on, we then have 1000 x 0 which equals nothing. (You have to learn and learn and grow and grow and keep growing so that you can give and gain!)

we can give and give and give, but if we don't work a little on ourselves as well, it can turn into absolutely nothing.
Giving is sooo important, but we still need to take care of ourselves!

do you really think that we need to work on giving to ourselves? (i think we do that all naturally) maybe, it's just me, but i think that i need to work more on being selfless not selfish... dunno...maybe ur all on a higer madreiga!!!! halivai i was there!!!
It's not about giving to yourself in a selfish way. Everyone needs to work on themselves and take care of themselves B'gashmius too. Sometimes though, you can get so carried away with helping other people in whatever area, that you can almost forget about yourself. Not a contradiction, but both need to be balanced, as with everything.
Nothing to do with high level...just a matter of life.

it means that if you want to gain B'RUCHNIUS you need to give to others... and that will refine you. but it will only refine you if you did your part and worked on refining yourself...
i think that's what she meant about taking care of ourselves - b'ruchnius!
